Snapshot of February 2013

Tax season makes everything pass by in a blur. I try to muster enough focus for a one topic blog entry but it isn't working well. Here are a smattering of going-ons and thoughts in my life:
  • Remember this Facebook post? I had mentioned a family member sent out a Facebook event for her wedding after a month of dating. Yeah they broke up. I know you all were hoping for the happily ever after but it isn't coming.
  • How can people be tax accountants and maintain a family? Oh wait, they have 9-5 husbands that help out with the picking up, dropping off, and all that kid stuff. If I were to have a child right now, it would definitely think the babysitter was it's mother. I wake up at 6am and leave the house by 6:30, later i leave work at 8pm, get home at 8:45-9ish. Then fall asleep at 9:30 with a half drank bottle of beer near my head. Saturdays and Sundays I only have to work 6 - 8 hours and that's when I can finally catch up on grad school homework.
  • I am 7% closer to my savings goal for my hypothetical wedding. M believes I am insane for starting to save two years in advance. I think he doesn't understand that he and our parents will not be contributing anything to the event and we have expensive tastes. I am budgetting around $20 grand, but I'm hoping it will be closer to $15.
  • Federal refund is scheduled to hit my bank account on Monday - why can't the IRS be this quick and efficient on the phone??
  • No one suggested getting a taser on my gun post. I am definitely getting a taser for my walks home in the morning and night.
  • M's lottery is on the 15th for his third year rotations. Cross your fingers that he gets to do surgery second (he needs a break right after the boards in May)! How did your school schedule rotations?
  • I signed up for a ten miler in May to keep me busy (more busy than I already am!) maybe I'll start posting a bit about my training progress.
I guess that's it. Time to bunker down for another 5 hours at work :(.
