So, Should You Think There is a God?

"I won't believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side."   - Gospel Of John 20:25
While this quote is from "doubting Thomas" in the Bible it sounds a lot like how people think in the modern world.  In both cases people tend to want to see something before they believe it.

Nowadays skepticism is understandable and justified.  People are trying to scam you from many directions, if you are paying attention.  Being deceived is easy and common in this world. It has even been overheard that some people think that God is not real and is only for those who can not accept that this life is all there is.

But enough of that.

The posts in this blog, however, are about ADDING spiritual meaning to your life. Using this line of thought the question would be, "Are there compelling reasons you should believe there is a God without being able to see him?"

So here it is.  If you have ever wondered whether you should believe there is a God, but wanted evidence, then the following are some reasons to help you believe.  They are separated into scientific reasons and "spiritual" reasons.

Scientific Reasons To Believe In God1.  God is visible through what he created.
" For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:"
   - Bible, Epistle To The Romans 1:20

Saint Paul seems to be saying that even if you can not think of other reasons to believe in God you can look at what he created and derive divine attributes.

2.  The miracle of childbirth.

When one thinks of a newborn baby or looks at one it is hard to deny a larger power at work.

3.  The size of universe (or mutli-verse).

It is said if you look through the four stars of the Big Dipper there are over a MILLION galaxies in that part of the sky alone.
Also it is claimed there are more stars in the sky than there are grains of sand on the beaches in the world

4. The wonder of the human body.

If you had to tell your body to digest its food what do you think would happen?
This section could also include things like the amazing strength of the human skull.
"Spiritual" Reasons To Believe In God
1.  The number of books and authors in the Bible that indicate the same message.
The Bible is a collection of 66 books written by numerous authors over about 1,500 years.  All of this  concludes the same message, which is that Jesus is the Son Of God and the redeemer of humankind.
2. Your conscience.
When you do what you know is wrong isn't there a "voice" deep down telling you otherwise?  Where do you think that "voice" comes from?
3.  The attraction of males and females to each other.
While some consider this scientific it is also psychological.  If humans were not designed meticulously there would not be the same appeal as is profound in daily life.
4.  Things like coincidences and deja vu.
Most people claim to have experienced things like these and it gets their attention.  (Have you?)  Are they always a coincidence?  Some people claim when things like this happen it is actually God working.
So perhaps you haven't witnessed the risen Lord like doubting Thomas was asking, but if you look around you can see indications of God in the world.
The above list is just a beginning.  As always the posts in this blog are to get people to think and to look at their lives, and not necessarily to have all the answers.

So, to answer the question, yes you should think there is a God.

This adds meaning to life because:  It is one thing to think there is a God because people have told you to think that, but whether you think so deep down is important.
