Social in My Palm

We have changed and social media is a reason to blame and applaud. Just when mankind was getting de-addicted of the internet abuse and the fun and frolic of Orkut was dying down, there came the devious facebook which glued us further into the dungeons of the internet. For long man stay put staring into the screen gathering or, giving away information until the day, technology made it simpler. The hand held devices came and man dexterously replaced the index fingers used on the mouse to the thumb to scroll the same site on the mobile device. The laptops were shut with a subtle thud and slid open were the smart phones to continue what was left.
Like everything else, the ease of having social on the mobile came with its share of curse and boon.

Where it disrupted our lifestyle, habits and expectations it provided us the ease to stay connected with people miles apart. Thanks to the handheld, as a social media specialist, I now work making my boss happy while I place my child on my chest and put him to sleep at the same time. Could not do that when twitter usage was limited to my laptop alone. I can party and be available to grab the business opportunity for my company by its neck even while I shake a leg and make all those moves. How difficult would it have been to do that if I had to rely on a laptop? The long drives on the stressful streets of our Country have become more pleasant because of our hand held devices never fail to entertain us.
Since, the online social word has already crippled us, having social media now on the mobile is like crutches to the crippled. Where once, people feared careless dogs crossing the road, these day drivers have become more careful least they ram into a teenager busy socializing on their smartphones. Now imagine, instead of the smartphone, it was a laptop the kid was holding! Would have looked like superman flying with dungarees.

Mobile phone is like the pug in the hutch ad. Where ever you go, it follows. It fits comfortably in your pockets, rests secretly in your bag, is found by your bedside. Mobile phone is always an arms reach away.
The thousand memories captured every day of the cute mutt on the roadside, of the rainbow created with the stole and bangles of the girl next door or, the bird soaring the majestic blue like it owns it and a lot more can now be shared with the world, because thanks to Instagram, social is now in our handheld device. Imagine clicking pictures from your laptop! A) It would be cumbersome and heavy. B) You would need to master Photoshop for the pictures that the laptops take are so granular that even Bangalore roads look smoother.

But having social on our mobile is not a total boon. It comes with its fair share of curse of taking a toil on our health and relationship. But that has been true to every new invention that has made man's life easier. Be it ceiling fan or, the light bulb. Every new invention that has made our life simpler has balanced it by making life unhealthier.
Okay! My word count to be eligible for the contest is done and so is done the charge on my smartphone. See how simple mobile makes it to even blog when the deadline is looming over head?
