Yalikavak
Yalikavak is a beautiful town that is located on Turkey’s Aegean coast, near Bodrum. Kusadasi
Kusadasi is a place that attracts plenty of holidaymakers year on year. It is one of the most sophisticated vacation resorts in the country, and the beaches are truly beautiful, with Ladies Beach being particularly popular. You can expect beautiful weather all year round, with sunny days 300 days of the year. There is also plenty to see and do, from the historic sites to the rich shopping facilities. You won’t get bored with the many bars, restaurants and nightclubs either. Another reason why Kusadasi is a great choice is for family travel is that it is well located, with trips to the likes of Aphrodisias, Didiyma, Priene and Pamukkale all available. There are many ways to get around in the resort, with the main options being by foot, by taxi, or most popularly by minibus. This minibus service is called dolmuĹŸ, which amusingly translates as ‘stuffed’.
Kalkan
Kalkan is a classy and luxurious resort that has an attractive harbor and is based around old bohemian-style towns. It features stunning views, with a crescent-shaped bay and the town built up the sides of the bay, almost like an amphitheater. There is also plenty to do, with many high-class boutiques and restaurants. This town attracts a slightly different clientele when compared with the likes of Istanbul and Bodrum. Rather, Kalkan appeals to tourists who tend to have more of a high-end budget.
Dalyan
The small town of Dalyan lies on the south-west coast of Turkey. There’s no doubt that it stands out above other Turkish resort towns and is increasing in popularity. Located on the peaceful and pretty Dalyan Creek, it is ideally situated for Dalaman Airport, which is within striking distance at 17 km away. It’s not short of other amenities either: nature lovers and beachgoers will be thrilled with Iztuzu Beach, a natural nesting-ground for the loggerhead turtle. Those after authentic Turkey will be thrilled with the history too, as this is the location for the ruins of Caunos, an ancient Roman city. On the west bank of the river, the stunning Lycian tombs attract much interest from tourists and locals alike. The rise in the numbers of hotels being built on the fields surrounding the town is confirmation that tourism is on the up in this area. Many opt to use Dalyan as a base for joining one of the many excursion boats that tour the fascinating landscapes of Turkey.
Bodrum
Bodrum may be an up and coming area, offering an array of new five-star hotels, including Aman Resorts, the Kempinski and Bodrum Palace. However, it is also an ancient city built on the remnants of one of the Ancient World’s Seven Wonders. It has a fascinating history and a unique charm. It is also viewed as the administrative hub for the Bodrum peninsula, which is 25 miles long. This area is very popular amongst British tourists. It features three incredible marinas and is known predominately as a yachting destination. There are also plenty of restaurants, shopping malls, bars and more. However, the peninsula is really quite diverse, and thus there are areas that are a lot more Turkish in character.
