Marquee weddings at home have a special place in my heart; there's something so special about being able to celebrate with your friends and family in a familiar setting. Of course, it's not for everyone - after all, you have quite a specific size of space in order to put a marquee on, not to mention being happy to have your garden used by so many feet, if you don't have a handy nearby field! But for this lovely Somerset village wedding, use the garden for the marquee is just what they did - and it looked GLORIOUS.
There are many favourites for me from this wedding, but one of them which is most pertinent to this blog is that the bride was able to get ready at her parents' home, whilst watching the last minute preparations for the wedding happen outside - what an exciting thing that must have been! The wedding took place in a small village called Charlton Mackrell, which is a collection of small and sleepy lanes, where there's a huge sense of community. Many of the neighbours were in attendance to help out, and later in the day when the wedding procession walked from the church back to the house after the ceremony, many more neighbours gathered outside their houses to add their congratulations. What a truly special and magical moment that was for everyone.
But back to the bridal prep, which is what this particular wedding blog is all about. I love shooting bridal prep pictures, and so I was particularly happy to have the chance to photograph these girls enjoying those moments before the wedding so much. Plus, as the preparations were at the bride's family home, there was plenty more for me to capture; the buzz of the rest of the family getting ready, people arriving with good wishes, and the general sense of anticipation building all around us. What a fabulous start to a fabulous day!
