Somewhere Different – At Home Or At Sea?
We are bombarded with travel advice, holidaying ideas and action packed all inclusive adventures everyday, but many of us just want something different. Different from the norm different from what our friends and family are plastering all over their social media.
When it comes to traveling we are all starting to look for the obscure, the random the ‘I never would have thought of that’ option, and why not. You might think that cruises are only for people collecting their pension or that if you’re staying in the country it’s not a real holiday, but I am here to convince you otherwise.
Try Staying At Home
Like I said many people might not consider it a true holiday if you haven’t left the country, but there are some truly amazing places that are right on our doorstep. One of the most beautiful places go and visit is the New Forest. Whether you’re a family, a couple or even if you fancy a one man road trip, this is a stunning location to go and explore, with so much to see, do and experience, it’ll be as action packed as any holiday abroad.
A couple of great advantages of the New Forest are it’s here at home, so no need for long haul flights and stop overs. It’s a great way to see other parts of the country you wouldn’t normally get to see, especially if you’re making a road trip out of it so take your time stop off places on the way that catch your eye. No matter what direction your traveling from this beautiful county of our has so much to offer and what a great way to enjoy what’s right in front of you.
Where to stay
Over 13 million people every year visit the New Forest, that many people can not be wrong. There are also some fantastic places to stay whether you’re thinking of a long weekend or an all out family holiday I just know the New Forest will have you captivated. There is every type of accommodation to suit all budgets and preferences. Everything from cute, little quiet B&B’s to adventure cabins, hotels, camping grounds and everything in between.
The New Forest is over such a big area you can also chose where to stay based on what your interests are. So if your more into quieter nature based trips there are places to stay that are tucked out of the way where you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity. Or, if your looking to be close to civilization you could stay in or near any of these fantastic towns or villages where you can experience country living at its best.
What to do
The stunning scenery and wildlife in The New Forest really will have you captivated. You’ll see things there you won’t find anywhere else. The wild ponies roaming the open grassland or the dear that scatter the park, the woodland walks where you’ll see and find all sorts of wonderful creatures. Please don’t think you have to be the outdoorsy type to enjoy The New Forest because you really don’t, there really is something for everyone here.
Don’t worry it’s all sipping tea and bird watching, there are some amazing activities for all the family, from water sports to adventurous days out with ropes courses, bush craft and even archery. There’s also a great way to see the park with their open top ‘safari’ bus tours running every day from June until September. So if you are looking for a thrill seeking adventure this is the place for you.
You really can adapt your trip to the way you want it, and do as many or as little activities as you want. So whether you are relaxing watching the world go by or you’re hanging out of a tree clinging on for dear life the New Forest is definitely worth looking at for your next holiday. Staying at home this summer could be the best decision you make.
Try Staying At Sea
I know, ‘at sea?’ I hear you ask. Yes, at sea, and why not? Cruises are fast becoming the must do trip, and with long and short trips all around the world what a fantastic way to have your cake and eat it too. No need to settle for just country when you could be visiting several and enjoying all the luxuries of a 5 star hotel.
Some people have made cruises their hobby, there are so many to try and experience for every type of traveler. So whether you are looking for a long weekend or perhaps an extended 2 week trip there is something for everyone.
Where to go
One of the great things about cruises is that there are so many options on where to go. You can be sailing around the Med, through the Caribbean, a trip to see the Northern Lights or perhaps even a river cruise, all of this as well as all the on board entertainment for all ages, the shopping, the pools and the amazing array of restaurants and bars all at your fingertips.
Don’t worry if you are a newbie to cruises either, check out these first time cruises they will have all the best places to visit for you and your family, even if this is all totally unfamiliar to you. And don’t for get if you decide a cruise is for you, you might need to think about passport renewal I know sometimes we forget and leave it all until the last minute, don’t panic though they have Fast-Track services for just such an occasion.
So, you’ve decided to brave the open sea and you’re finally on board now it’s time to make the most of your adventure with everything your ship has to offer.
What to do
One of the most appealing things about cruises is just how much you can customise your trip. You can interchange everything, from where to go and to what to eat. Some of the larger ships have an enormous amount of on board shopping too, which lets face it, is just amazing! With the enormous variety of restaurants, bars and lounges you will be spoiled for choice and you’ll probably have a tough time making your way through them all.
The ship will also dock in some amazing ports giving you the opportunity to jump off and visit some fantastic local hot spots along the way, and experience the hustle and bustle of each great destination. Depending of what cruise you opt for you can have your pick of luxurious locations along your trip.
For me, I think cruises are great for people and families that love a bit of everything. Staying in one place for too long can get samey and often kids get bored and grown ups need just something different. If you’re travelling with the kids then keeping them occupied is a must and with one of these cruises they are going to be spoiled for choice. From the pools and water activities, to the kids clubs and children’s entertainment through the day and night they will be blown away with choice.
Whether you decide at home or at sea is for you or even if you looking for something completely different make your holiday your own, the way you want. And make many more memories with you and your family.
