I see you floating in the dark abyss
Quiet
Serene
Nothing amiss
Pondering your existence
As you fray the tether
To consciousness,
To life all together.
I see you floating,
in the void with bliss
Giving you warmth
And sadistic happiness
I wish I could join you,
In the place you’ve come to darken,
But you’ve pushed me away,
And I can no longer harken.
Instead i watch as you sever the cord
Tying you to anything your heart could not afford
Not afford to lose
Not afford to keep
Not afford to think of
Before going to sleep
So you search for the place
Where the loneliest of hearts roam,
In the void of outer space,
As you believe you’re destined to be alone.
It’s where lost souls drift,
When they feel out of place
With no anchors left to lift,
And hope has gone to waste.
In the blazing light of the dawn
I bared for you my soul,
But it’s the closeness to you I’ll mourn
Now all I see is a black hole
Another “what if?” for another day
Another shooting star swept away.
For we’ve drifted past the point of light,
And In this darkness akin to night,
For me, loneliness is damnation,
Torturous and true
But for you,
Loneliness is protection and salvation,
It’s nothing new.
So, goodbye my space man,
Floating in the sky,
Please know how eagerly I wished to join you,
Though you asked me not to fly.
