…Speak for the Trees

The big day is finally here—it’s Earth Day! Nearly half a century old this day dedicated to our one and only planet draws attention to things we sometimes take for granted.

Our planet does many things, but number one on that list (for us at least) is keeping us alive. The fact is, our planet’s resources are not inexhaustible, and without proper care and precaution they will run out.

This is not a new revelation, we’ve learned this in the past many times over, from unsustainable farming practices to deadly smog. Even today, major cities are running out of water. Not to mention the shrinking polar ice caps.

Basically, if you think our planet is doing just fine, you haven’t been paying attention.

Okay, now that the obligatory doom and gloom portion has been completed, here’s the the good news.

A lot of people who know what they’re doing are fighting to change the way we treat our planet. Even better, some people with the power to actually implement their solutions are listening.

We’ve even managed to lessen our impact on our planets delicate ecosystem, or at least started moving in that direction.

Here’s the thing, keeping our planet healthy isn’t a passive activity. Earth Day may only come once a year, but what it represents should be practiced and celebrated ever day.
