Zero to hero, Day one: Introduce yourself.

Who am I an’ wher’ mI at?” (say it in a drunken voice)

Have you ever had one of those “Who am I and where am I at?” moments?  There were plenty of those mornings (early mornings) in my 20′s where I have asked that question.  This may have been due to the mass quantities of cereal malt beverages that were consumed the night before.  With each shot I took, a little closer to the answer of that question.  As soon as I was close to the end of the quest, BOOM!  There’s the morning.  The rudely bright sun shining into the window (of my car) erasing all the progress from the night before.  Forced to go through the day preparing to join the quest for the answer.  Each day and night teaching me what I already knew. What did I find out then?

  • I’m invincible!
  • Transferring from the University as a music education major to the “College of Life” was the best decision I could’ve ever made!
  • I can stay and up party to 4am and be at work at 7 without a problem.
  • Being single, “Ain’t nobody got time for that.”
  • Being in a relationship, “Ain’t nobody got time for that.”
  • Government and politics, boring! (Vote for George Clinton, “funk you very much!”)
  • Money, ya I got it!  I’ve got 3 major credit cards and 5 store cards that say I do!

Looking back now at 36, what did I learn?

  • I’m not invincible, however I’m not dead yet!
  • Although a college degree is never a bad thing, it would not of helped me to get me to the life I currently live. (It may have been better life / it may have been worse?)
  • Staying up to 4 knowing you have to be up at 7, IS A PROBLEM! Regardless if you can do it or not.
  • Being single, should’ve made more time for that.
  • Being in a relationship, should’ve made more time for that as well.
  • Government far from boring.  Politics, very annoying.
  • Money, um ya, I needed more and should’ve spent less.

So who are you?  Why are you here?

Hi, my name’s Steve. (Hi Steve!)  No, not like that.  I’m 36 years old / young.  I have 35.12 years of life experience.  I’ve worked in multiple jobs, all in customer service / sales field.  I’ve never been married, however I feel as if I’ve been divorced three times.  I have had a great life so far.  It’s made me who I am, for better for worse.  I’ve learned the lessons, however still figuring out how to apply them.  I find myself as an average guy with a unique outlook on life.  Over the past decade or so I’ve found myself more and more interested in what’s going on in the good ol’ US of A.  The government and the politicians that pretend to be part of it.

WHY ARE YOU HERE?

I’ve had this feeling that I need to do something.  What, I don’t know. I’ve been told I have a unique view on life.  I have been intrigued by radio / podcasting. A friend suggested blogging.  Didn’t interest me at first.  Sounded like a bunch of work for someone who is not a writer.  After some thought I found that the blog idea may be a great lead into a podcast or way to share my thoughts.  I’ve written a few posts and started exploring the blogosphere.  So far, so awesome!  I’ve found that putting my thoughts down onto this virtual paper have eased my mind / soul.  It’s like a journal that you leave out in the open on purpose in hope that someone else will find it.  Much to my surprise, I’ve found that the discussion in the blogging community can bring us together more than any other media out there.    Here are some thoughts I find that this blog may cover.

  • Customer Service – What is it; can we do it better; would it be easier without the customers?
  • Government and Politics – Where did we come from and where are we going; can we change it; do I actually have a voice?
  • Personal life – There has got to be more than this; this is as good as it gets; can I learn from my mistakes or were the mistakes on purpose and I already knew what was right?
  • News / media / events – What’s the real story; Is there something we are missing; Should we care less or more about this?
  • Temper / Madness – Exploring why things make us mad, and finding out why we are not mad at things we should be.

UMADYET:

“I believe we are getting mad at the wrong things and ignoring those that should really piss us off.”

What is umadyet?  When I started this blog I WAS PISSED!  However not sure what the anger was directed at.  I found myself having a short fuse about things that looking back make no sense at all.  I have also noticed things that people accept as normal, I think should make them red in the face. I look to explore this more in everyday life.  Part as a gauge in calming my self. (“Am I really mad at this?”)  Possibly more important, I want to find a way to share things we ignore that should make us bonkers in a way that make you realize your blood pressure should rise a notch or two?  Are you mad yet?

As I start the wordpress blogging journey, please feel free to comment.  Part of the fun is sharing.  The funner part is the feedback!  The mostest funner part may be the sharing of the feedback while commenting on the thoughts of someones criticism of the others retort.  Don’t you think?  (What the hell did he just say?)
