My Top 10 Tuesday music activity today focuses on Vivaldi’s “Spring” concerto from “The Four Seasons.” (Click HERE to check it out!) I’ve been listening to this music continuously for the last 24 hours though it is music I have grown up on. My mother is a classical music lover, and I often remember her driving around in her car with the radio stuck to the classical music channel. I have always loved “The Four Seasons,” as Vivaldi so eloquently expressed each of the seasons musically.
Spring makes me think about daffodils. My birthday is in April, and every year, all around my home in Akron, OH, the daffodils would bloom just a week or two before my birthday. As a child, you don’t have any concept of time, and the daffodils were my way of knowing that my birthday was soon. There are many pictures of me sniffing daffodils and holding a cut few in my hand posing for a photograph with a big smile on my face. I wish I knew where one of those photos were now so I could share it in this blog.
**UPDATE: My Aunt emailed me a picture! Here I am in baby years playing with the daffodils!
When I listen to the “Spring” concerto, it’s like I can hear the daffodils in Vivaldi’s music. It’s as if he gave sound to something inanimate. I love that! That’s why I am using it as my song of the day today in addition to my Top 10 Tuesday musical activity. Click HERE to go to Youtube to hear this beautiful music. I am certain it will bring back memories of Spring for you, too.
