Start The Day Right & Help To Lower Cholesterol With CHEERIOS Oat Crisp
Posted on the 05 May 2016 by Sparklesandstretchmarks @raine_fairyWhen you have children, it's natural to start to have more concern for your health than you may have done previously. I know from my own personal experience that I think a lot more seriously about the decisions I'm making for my body since becoming a mom because not only do they effect me but the effect they have on my long term health will have a knock on effect on my children. I want to do everything I can to try to be as healthy as possible to ensure that I'm here for them for as long as I can be, in as physically fit a state as I can be - and while we can never fully control what life has in store for us, there are things we can do to try to keep ourselves fighting fit. I recently read that over HALF of all adults in the UK suffer from high cholesterol, which is a big risk factor in the development of coronary heart disease. I was recently introduced to the new CHEERIOS Oat Crisp cereal which are designed to help lower cholesterol levels - Oats are rich in beta-gluten which which binds with cholesterol in the digestive tract to stop it from being absorbed into the body. Just one bowl of CHEERIOS Oat Crisp provides you with 1/3 of your recommended intake of beta-gluten! The experts also recommend a daily intake of 3g Oat Beta-Gluten to obtain the cholesterol lowering effect. Expert Nutritionist Juliette Kellow says: “High cholesterol can affect anyone at any age, although the risk tends to increase as we get older. Many people are unaware their cholesterol level is too high as there are often no outward signs. However, it's a risk factor in the development of coronary heart disease, so it's important you get it checked. Studies have shown regularly having 3g oat beta-glucan each day can reduce total cholesterol levels by up to 5%. Having a bowl of cereal that's packed with oats – which provide beta-glucan – therefore makes a great start to the day.” Not only can CHEERIOSOat Crisp help to lower your cholesterol, but they are also a great source of fiber and low in saturated fat. As someone in the midst of trying to lose a lot of weight, I have found CHEERIOS oat crisp to be a perfect breakfast staple - I'm avoiding dairy for breastfeeding reasons at the moment and so instead I have them with Almond Milk and I have to say, the combination is DELICIOUS! I love the mix of traditional CHEERIOS and oat flakes - they are so yummy and really satisfying too! They also come in a Cinnamon variety if you prefer your breakfast with a bit of spice to it! CHEERIOS Oat Crisp® are available now at Ocado, Sainsbury’s and Tesco, and will be hitting the shelves in Asda and Waitrose from April 2016.
RRP: £2.49 for CHEERIOS Oat Crisp® and CHEERIOS Cinnamon Oat Crisp®
