Will some of it make absolutely no sense? Possibly. Will some of it be outright lies? Almost certainly. But here’s the thing, no matter what is said, the man saying it is the leader of our country. I apologize for reminding you twice that Donald J. Trump is the President (make that three), but it had to be done.
What he says matters. What he says carries weight and power, which is why we have to keep listening.
Just to be clear, I don’t mean turn on the television and shout your disapproval at the screen for the entirety of the speech. I mean sit down and actually pay attention. Put your phone down, take notes, close your eyes, do whatever you have to do to just listen to what’s being said.
It won’t be easy, but I promise it’ll be worth it. Because, you see, by listening you can become informed. While you may not like or agree with what is said, you’ll actually hear it.
I promise you, it’s a lot easier to disagree with someone, and know what they stand for, when you know what they’re saying. More importantly, it’s a lot easier to move forward. And right now that’s what we need.
