Last week we had the absolute pleasure of staying for two nights at one of the most incredible and fun hotels we've ever stayed in - the Legoland Knights Castle Hotel in Billund in Denmark. The outside of the hotel (or castle) itself is incredible and as you'd expect looks like something out of a lego movie!
As we approached the entrance, the awesome medieval-themed lego models outside made sounds and as we walked through the doors and entered the hotel we were in awe of how amazing it looked. To the left is an incredible lego model of a fireplace with a lego dragon above it, there's more lego models within the reception desk and even lego building areas for the kids to build whatever they like to or to take part in competitions. 
Opposite the reception desk you can buy snacks and drinks and also Legoland exclusive lego sets!
Check inCheck in was smooth and although our room wasn't ready, we were able to put our luggage in the luggage room next to reception. We were offered a tea and coffee whilst we had a little sit down to rest which was very kind and then we headed over to Legoland for a few hours, which is just a few minutes walk from the Castle Hotel. The Dragon Knight's roomLater that day when we could check in to our room (around 4pm) we were blown away by how incredible it was! Even just walking up to the room the lego-theming is so fun in the corridors and I especially like the lights on the outside of the doors that are made from lego! Inside our room, it was almost split into two rooms with the kids room and the main bed being split between the bathroom and a small corridor. There wasn't a door between them so we could still speak to each other and be in the same room, but it was great as it felt like we had our own space in the evening and lots of it! The boys were in a medieval-themed bunk bed, which they loved and we had a really nice king-sized bed with a lego dragon picture that lit up above us and the most awesome lego decor all around our room. 
The boys were absolutely over the moon with their room, they had a TV, lego to build with (which they started building with straight away and which kept them entertained).
One morning as we left our room we actually bumped into a lego character and a princess dressed up!
Treasure Hunt to unlock the safeThere was even a really fun treasure hunt to do. The receptionist had given us a booklet and we had to go and find the answers to some of the questions around the hotel to find a code to unlock the safe in the room which when we did had two little lego polybags for the boys inside! They absolutely loved it and I think it was such an awesome touch! 
PlaygroundsWhat is really awesome is that there are two fun playgrounds for the kids there too with sand. They are Lego and medieval themed and absolutely brilliant fun for keeping the kids entertained and letting them burn off some energy. On our second night we sat outside with a drink whilst they played in the playground behind the restaurant which was really lovely. The other playground is outside the entrance of the Castle Hotel itself. 
Restaurant and PlayroomThe main restaurant in the hotel is the Knights' Tavern restaurant which is very cool for kids as it has a playroom inside of it with big soft lego bricks to build with and two Nintendo switches that they can play games on, which my boys absolutely loved as they're massive Nintendo fans! 
We are a vegetarian family and would say that we found its little limited in comparison to the UK where in general there are a lot more vegetarian options available for a cooked breakfast, however it wasn't too much of an issue as we did manage to find things to fill us up such as toast, beans, egg (for my husband as I don't eat egg) and things like mozzarella and tomato salad, as well as cereals and pancakes with Nutella or syrup.It would be great to see additions such as vegetarian/vegan sausages, hash browns, mushrooms, tomatoes etc. But of course, with it being a different country, breakfast in Denmark is slightly different to what we have here in the UK and that's pretty much the norm when we go abroad, so we're quite used to it.
