Yesterday, I set out on my Ross Dress for Less adventure in Orland Park, IL. Ross is a department store similar to Marshalls or TJ Maxx but has a bigger selection of fashionable plus size clothes. Any of you who shop at Marshalls or TJ Maxx know that these stores are hit or miss. You go in one day and they let you have it ..You go in the next and it’s a bunch of junk. I was first introduced to Ross while down in Charlotte, NC. I went in with my sister and came out with 5 fabulous sundresses for about $60.00 so you know I was one happy camper. So when I found they had open up one in Orland Park, I was quite ready to grab my wallet and see what I can find for the Fall/Winter season. So I drove the 20 miles out to Orland, got to Ross, and walked through the door like I was Rasputia from the movie Norbit. Iwent in and immediately started going through the racks of clothes. Within 5 minutes I had manage to find 2 really adorable sweaters and the cutest long sleeve maxi dress. I went around to the other side of the rack and that when I found that the line to check out was wrapped completely around the entire store. You would have thought it was Black Friday and that Ross was giving away merchandise for free. I was now faced with the dilemma of whether I wanted to wait in line for an hour or 2 or walk my ass out of there. I chose to walk away! As my grandmother would say, the early bird catches the worm. I should’ve gotten my ass up at 9:00 am and went out there. Better luck next time!
I did however go next door to DSW and as always hit the clearance section first. Immediately I spotted some Steve Madden metallic wedges and a pair of espadrilles sandals that I wanted this summer but didn’t want to pay the money for (see pics above). Well yesterday was my lucky day because both of them were on clearance in my size for half off the clearance price I walked out of there with both pairs for $29.00+tax. Originally they were $59.99 a pair. Yes, these are summer shoes but hell next year when I go on vacation, I will grace the streets of Aruba with these.
Now it wouldn’t be me if it wasn’t something to make my day eventful. Upon leaving DSW I found myself face to face with the woman my ex-hubby cheated with and later on married. Refer to the post “Pull out the Violins” for background information. DSW now became showdown at the OK Corral and we both waited to see who had the fastest draw. Needless to say I didn’t have to draw anything because both her and her mother high tailed it out of there. I guess maybe they thought I was going to open up a can of wope ass but they were sadly mistaken because the one thing I don’t do is get indignant in public places. After all, I am a lady and I choose to conduct myself as one at all times. I continued my beautiful day out and life as I know it was not affected in any way. This incident did however get to me to thinking about how others deal with these awkward situations. What happens when you come face to face with an ex that didn’t end on good terms? Also, what happens when you come face to face with an ex and the new person in their life? Especially if the new person is someone you once knew? Please do share enquiring minds wants to know.
