I’ll give those who are hearing this for the first time a moment to compose themselves, and verify that this is in fact happening.
Okay, now that you’ve had a second to collect yourself, let’s rip that Band-Aid off.
There will be plenty of time to reminisce in the coming months, but for now, let’s start the healing process by speculating over Mr. Stewart’s replacement:
- Amy Poehler — I don’t think this one needs much explanation. As a former SNL Weekend Update host, she’s an obvious choice. Plus, “Parks and Recreation” wraps up in less than a week, so she may also be available.
- Tina Fey — Okay, another obvious choice, but can you blame me.
- Amy Poehler and Tina Fey — While either one could easily carry the show by themselves, how awesome would it be to get the dynamic duo back together, and for four nights a week. It would be like the “Golden Globes” but on a daily basis.
Just in case those suggestions were too subtle, it would be nice to have a woman take over. Oh, and another possible options — Olivia Munn (already familiar with the show).
Late night television needs some female influence, and “The Daily Show,” would be a great place to start.
