…Stick With It

I’ve written about my fair share of scientific studies, ranging from the frightfully obvious to completely ridiculous. Today, I’m mixing it up. Finally, there’s one with some practical applications for everyday life.

So what is this life altering study about?

Sticky notes

It turns out, they can be a secret weapon when it comes to influencing people. A recent study found that people were more likely to complete a task if that request comes via a sticky note.

Don’t get too excited, this isn’t a groundbreaking discovery that sticky notes have secret mind-controlling powers. No, the answer is much simpler than that.

It turns out it’s not the sticky note, but the personal touch that is more persuasive. Which is somewhat encouraging in a world that seems to become more disconnected and technology-driven every day. It’s nice to know a handwritten note still counts for something.
