This comes on the heals of Milwaukee’s Ryan Braun’s season ending suspension. For those of you keeping score, that’s 14 players.
Perhaps the saddest part, is the knowledge that this number is (most likely) just a small fraction of the current players who are using or have used performance enhancing drugs to give themselves a competitive edge.
The most upsetting part, is that they’ve actually made me feel bad for Alex Rodriguez…maybe “bad” is taking it too far, but I definitely think that “justice” was far from blind in this ruling.
While the majority of the players were harshly punished with a 50 game suspension (the rest of the season), they decided they were going to make an example out of the Yankee’s star. Thankfully, his appeal against the ruling and lack of remorse, make it a bit easier for the rest of us to swallow the inequality of the punishments.
Unfortunately, they can’t punish everyone. At least not if they still want to have a full and entertaining season. So the blame has to fall somewhere, it might as well be someone all of us non-Yankee fans love to hate.
…and just for the record, there are no Cardinals on that list. Go Cards!
