Michael Newton is a talented artist and illustrator who was born in Manchester, England and studied mathematics at Newcastle-upon-Tyne University. His oil paintings explore aspects of MELANCHOLIA using traditional methods of oil paint on canvas and on wooden panels. His work focused on the female figure. Heavily influenced by fashion illustration and classic art nouveau, he has developed a style that is unique, contemporary and memorable. Michael works initially from pen and ink drawings that combine elements of his own figurative drawing with his photographs and found images.
