Sundays with GK: How I Apply Lipstick?

Posted on the 30 March 2014 by Genzelkisses

I know it’s been a while since my last post for this blog series, finally here’s a next one.  I’ve actually received some questions and picked one that I like to answer today.  I got a quick question from my reader and blogger friend:

“Just a quick question, do you use a lipbrush to apply lipstick? And how often do you do retouches? Hihi thanks”

thereyoujho

Thank you so much my dear for that quick and direct question!

Honestly, I’m such a bummer for retouching.  I super duper (if there’s a more superlative way to express it), rarely retouch my makeup, including my lipstick that’s why almost all my lipsticks still look new.  I usually have dry, chapped lips that’s why retouching for me is a pain in the a**.  I need to always have an exfoliator with me (microfiber towel or lip scrub) so I can retouch my lipstick.

“… do you use a lip brush to apply lipstick?”

Usually, I use my lipstick as is most especially if it’s new and the tip is still really pointed that I can shape my lips easily just by the lipstick alone.  I use a lip brush IF 1.  I’m using a red lip color,  2.  tip of my lipstick is not pointed enough,  3.  it’s almost gone but will not give up to get a color up to the last swipe, and 4.  I need precision because I want to look fab that day. *laughs*

I have more than 5 lip brushes but those four are the ones that I use a lot.

From left to right:

1.  From watsons, the first lip brush I ever owned.  It’s good but the casing tends to push down whenever I use it so I have to really hold on to the cap.

2.  Marionnaud.  A little bit wider and I like using it.  It’s easier to shape the lips.

3.  Real Techniques.  It’s supposed to be for eye lining but I find it too thick for eyeliner.  I use this for hard to reach places of my lips.

4.  Sigma Lip Brush.  From my Make Me Classy brush set, for red lipsticks.  It’s my favorite.

“… how often do you do retouches?”

Usually, when it’s really needed like I’m in an event, after eating I retouch.  So, for that my answer will be “once” and maximum is “twice”.  Especially if I’ll be going home already after event, I don’t retouch at all.

My favorite applicator:

That doe-foot applicator of my Miners Matte Factor Lip Paint.  Application is a breeze whenever I’m using it that’s why I love lip products that comes with that kind of applicator.

I guess that’s it!  I’ll be sharing more tips in my future posts.  I hope I have answered your question Jho!  Oh by the way, she’s also a blogger so don’t forget to drop by on her blog and say hi!

For questions, I answer anything under the sun! Haha  You may message me on my Facebook Page or email me at info@genzelkisses.com
