I had so much fun the other night with two music buddies. They’re in the middle of a recording project and asked if I could come record some backup vocals for a couple of their songs. I’ve spent some limited time in the recording studio over the years, but it’s been a really long time. It sounded like fun, so I left the kids with my hubby for a night and rolled up my sleeves to lend my voice to their song.
What a blast – but also hard work. The thing about recording is that your game needs to be on. You can’t screw up – at all, or the microphone will pick it up. I am the queen of imperfection, and when you typically sing with kids, you don’t need to be perfect.
Studio work is a challenge, and I have to say that I really love and welcome it. It’s nice to be challenged from time to time, and artistically, it was good for my soul.
Just saying – so nice to have a breath of fresh air. So, my song of the day is from Depeche Mode, because recording music is really the “Sweetest Perfection.”
