It’s been rainy and hot and extra humid so I spent the month watching movies and reading. I love the outdoors but I much prefer autumn and winter weather. That being said, here’s everything that happened over the course of this last full month of summer:

In My Ears

Daughter… all month long… over and over

In My Eyes

Watched:

Shark Week!!!! *cue Jaws music* Shipwrecks in shark infested waters are pretty much my favorite thing.

“Breaking Bad”… Like the rest of you, I’m watching it with an almost religious reverence.

“The Conjuring”… someone should do a fashion spread on Lorraine Warren Chic… Vera Farmiga is a babe

Urban Legend“… yes, the one with Jared Leto and his fancy eyes. This movie brings back so many pubescent memories of watching “Dawson’s Creek” and crying…

The Fosters“… it’s on ACB Family but it’s sooooo goooood. I have a huge crushes on both of the actresses who play the Moms.

Read:

A ton of Jane Austen and Charlotte Brontë. I read “Pride and Prejudice,” “Sense and Sensibility” and “Jane Eyre” and then watched the best movie versions: the 1995 miniseries, the Emma Thompson screenplay and the  Cary Fukunaga version, respectively.

If you want to read great literature for free, this site has a collection of classic literature you can read online. From Dickens and Dickinson to Wilde and Woolf.

I read Cheryl Strayed’s “Wild” over the course of one day. I can’t talk about it objectively because it was the perfect book for me to read at this precise time in my life and I therefore LOVED it with my entire heart.

This article of 11 Things You Didn’t Know About Jane Campion.

Remember the eldest daughter in Mrs. Doubtfire? She has a blog and it’s awesome.

“Bob’s Burgers” is the most sex-positive show on television and Louise is my spirit animal.

In My Heart (Objects of Lust and Love)

I’m obsessed with Ralph Fiennes right now. I’ve watched almost all of his movies in the past month. I started with the sexiest ones. I highly recommend “The End of the Affair” for your pervy viewing pleasure. It’s also a really good movie.

This Jane Campion interview made me cry. I look up to her so much. She’s my favorite writer/director. If you can’t watch it on Hulu, you can download the podcast for free on iTunes or watch it here. I also watched “In the Cut” and “Bright Star” because I watch EVERYTHING Jane Campion creates. I google her so much that as soon as I type “J” my laptop autofills “ane Campion.”

In My Brain (stuff I created, due to wildly misfiring synapses because COFFEE.)

I did a couple watercolors and a few drawings… they’ll be online soon.

I’m also working on a novel… stay tuned for a post on my writing process.
