T W E L V E // Best Advice Given + Last Sunday Social

Posted on the 12 October 2014 by Lifeofasportswife @jessaolson

Well it only took me eight days to miss a few days. I wish I could say that I was super busy and just forgot but I can't say that. I actually had written these prompts out when Helene and Taylor first announced this party.

Work has been crazy to say the least. When I first started we were fully staffed at 10 and since then (7 months later) we are now at 5 people. That includes our senior teller who always works 830-430. So it's 4 of us to cover the bank from 7a-630pm. It wouldn't be so bad but the branch I am at is downtown, and we are always busy.

The Best Advice that I was given was at my first job in Asheville, NC. I was interning with Asheville Tourists. The Assistant General Manager (AGM) told me to think of what they are saying and not how they said it. I had never thought about it but think of what people are saying and now I can improve. If you have ever worked in the sports world where you spend 14 hours a day for a homestand of 10 games there is no way to say anything nicely. You're tired. You've been at work more than you have been at your own home. So I usually try to keep this in mind.

Another one is something that Gary has been saying a lot. If you're not changing, you're dying. I couldn't agree more. I have always been a learner and trying to improve myself. I don't think it's a bad thing at all.

So to change topics, Neely and Ashley are no longer doing Sunday Social. I had participated in this a few times. I actually really liked doing it because it was a great way to meet other bloggers and I didn't have to think about what to write. You doesn't love those type of blogging days.

How did you come up with your blog name?

I actually just changed my name in June. It was Life of A Sports Wife but I felt like I was expected to write about sports the whole time. There is so much more to me than being a sports wife. So I changed the blog to my name.

What is your favorite thing about blogging?

We move around a lot for my husbands job. He wants to be a General Manager for a Minor League Baseball (MiLB) team. The way I explain it to people we are climbing the "corporate ladder" of sports. You gotta go where the jobs are.

What is one thing you have discovered because of blogging and now can't live without?

There are a lot of things but I recently got my Day Designer. It has been something that I have wanted for a while. The jury is still out on if I will get one next year.

Facebook or Twitter? and why?

Twitter. It's faster, and I think more people have twitter than facebook. I also like the twitter chats and hashtags.

If one celeb read your blog who would you want it to be?

Maybe Erin Andrews or Samantha Ponder. But I think I need to do some major work.
