For those who are unaware of yesterday’s events, here’s a quick synopsis. United Airlines, the Wall Street Journal’s website, and the NYSE were all temporarily shutdown due to computer issues.
It turns out that the computer issues were completely separate instances that just happened to occur all at once, but that didn’t stop the conspiracy theorists from freaking out.
Of course, there’s always a chance that all three events are actually connected, and there’s a huge coverup to keep us from finding out that the terrorists/computers/aliens are trying to take us down one computer system at a time. But who has time to be in that kind of constant state of panic?
Is it a little scary that a little computer glitch can essentially paralyze the transportation, commerce, and news industries?
Yes!
But it’s better than the alternative, so if it’s alright with you, I’m going to enjoy my blissful ignorance for a little bit longer.
