Target got called out this week on a shade of gray.
Specifically—manatee gray.
A sensitive customer with a Twitter account blasted the chain for referring to a plus-size gray dress as manatee gray.
The store promptly apologized and dropped the manatee.
It seems like a smart and sensitive move, until to you consider the fact that Target has been using manatee gray on many of its products for years.
And not just in clothing, you can purchase towels, placemats, bath rugs and pillows in the shade.
Taking this into consideration, you have to wonder if we’ve become just a bit too sensitive.
Of course, with all this name calling and uncalling going on, we may have forgotten the true victim— the manatee.
Maybe they don’t appreciate being called fat either (or associated with a bath mat).
