Talks on Hold, Comebacks and merry go rounds.

This weeks fashion news update:

After asking 10 Million Dollars for the 22 collection he would present each year, Dior has halted talks with Marc Jacobs, who was recently named as the likely successor to Galliano.

On the same Topic, Galliano Who recently faced penalties for racist insults towards patrons of a Paris bar, may be on his way back to his old Position at Dior…What on earth is Going on? It seems that many a fashionista is taking the side of Galliano, accepting and forgiving him for his outburst on a account of his genius as a Designer, But lets face it, is it enough? Could Dior be thinking of taking him back? And what does it say to the world if they do?

Untill that video came out earlier this year, I held John Galliano on a pedestal as the greatest fashion designer that I had ever seen, but in no way should his behavior be excused, I dont think that Drink and Drugs can make someone say racist and bigoted things. I know that they can make you say and do things you regret but never have i heard such utter nonsense!

And what of Dior and LVMH? Doesnt it make them look like hypocrites and bigots too if they forgive and forget in the name of quickly resolving the issue of who will design for them? The thing is, the little designer such as myself is in no position to take a stand, with jobs in the industry few and far between and mostly controlled by a small group of people…So I guess we just have to wait and see.

This news was topped off by the announcement this week that Giles Deacon is leaving Emanuel Ungaro after only 2 seasons. When will Ungaro get a designer to stay? what is the problem? i guess its another waiting game for us.

xoxo LLM
