Tarot Tip 10: Opposing Cards

Unlike reinforcing cards, opposing cards point to lies (to oneself or others) and tricky situations. When you see opposing cards in a reading, expect conflicts and battles. You’re being warned or cautioned to pursue a different path.

An example of this is the Two of Cups (meaning love, romance and a relationship) followed by a reversed Three of Cups (cheating, another man/woman, lies) or the Five of Swords (deceit, loss, heartbreak.)

Reinforcing and opposing cards are a part of every tarot reading. Neither is positive or negative and most readings will have both reinforcing and opposing cards.
