Taste Tuesdays: Pizza Stone

We stopped ordering delivery pizza a long time ago. We have a couple of places we will go to grab a slice, but mostly, if we want pizza, we cook it ourselves. We start with the Kroger pizza dough, bake it for about 5 minutes with a little olive oil and seasonings on top, and then add a sauce (marina, alfredo, thai, pesto, beans, bbq...)-- almost anything goes when it comes to the possibilities for a homemade pizza. Then, we add some type of cheese, loads of veggies and sometimes a type of meat (chicken, ham, hamburger...). Pop it back in the oven for 10 minutes, and Voila! Healthy, delicious, just what we want pizza in less time than delivery. Plus, everyone could make little personal pizzas with their own toppings for a little added fun for the family or having a party. I promise you won't be disappointed in your homemade masterpiece, and you will probably never want to order delivery again (well, never IS a strong word...).
Now, I considered myself sort of a "pizza expert" since it is one of the few dishes I can actually make better than Gary (or he just lets me, not sure which?!), but this weekend, our friends made homemade pizza using a pizza stone. The result is a crispier, yummier crust that makes me want to run out and by our own stone ASAP. This handy tool will take any homemade pizza to the next level, I promise.
