The largest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife
is a hotspot for families looking for a great value holiday with lots of
activities for the little ones, and bigger ones too! Tenerife’s volcanic
landscape also means there is also plenty to see and do away from the coast.
The great thing about Tenerife is it’s a
year-round destination, meaning the temperature is inviting whatever the time
of year, and with only a few hours' flight time from the UK, it particularly
appeals to families with small children.
If you want to get out and about with the
kids then you could scale the mountainous landscape in a cable car, then
explore and take in the amazing views of the island. There is also a great
waterpark just outside of Playa de Las Americas called Siam Park, where kids of
all ages can have fun on the many waterslides and pools, or maybe try surfing
the three meter high waves at The Wave Palace!
For beach bums, you won’t find many golden
beaches here, but there are lashings of striking black volcanic stretches and
crystal clear waters. Tenerife’s beaches are the perfect place to relax and
unwind whilst the kids enjoy the shallow waters. Plus there are many beach
watersports to choose from. Look out for the banana boats dashing through the waves!
A familyTenerife holiday also offers you the chance to spend some time exploring
Tenerife’s many shops and boutiques. Los Christianos is a great place for
shopping and its department stores will easily entice you to part with your
spending money, but head to the smaller local shops and you’ll definitely find
a bargain or two. Los Christianos’ harbor is a great place to enjoy people-watching
from a pavement café before heading back to the beach for a soak in the sun.
So for a fun-filled stay that will appeal
to all the family, whatever their age, Tenerife makes the perfect holiday
destination.
