It kind of sucks when you see obnoxious qualities you possess in another person. It’s like having your mistakes played back for you on a television screen, over and over and over again. I just saw someone:
1)Freak out about something that was NOT a big deal.
2) Not accept anyone else’s opinion as being even remotely correct.
3) Demonstrate insecurity with an over interest in their appearance.
I’m glad that I got to see this person like this because it’s made me realising that some things need to be repeated if they’re going to sink into my mind:
1) I need to remember that I have nothing to complain about. I’m living in a first-world country. I have food, clothing and shelter. I’m educated; I have nothing to complain about.
2) I should almost-always be willing to hear someones opinion. If someone is willing to share part of their mind with me then, normally, I should listen.
3) I haven’t done this for a while.
I have to remember, though, that this person is most likely going to look back on this and say, “Wow, I can’t believe I was like that!” and if they don’t, well, at least they’re teaching me to change my behaviour.
