When I was 21, I was working for a newspaper, I had no idea whatsoever that I could write fiction...in another language. But Zoe Adams is very certain of what she wants to be and that is... a successful author. Her horror/fantasy novella Best Served Chilled will be released on the 31 this month with Crushing Hearts and Black Butterfly Publishing and the young English author is overwhelmed with enthusiasm. Here's a few things about her:
- Disclose us three interesting things about you, Zoe.
- I idolize the film Labyrinth (1986). . I
met Wil Francis in the summer of 2010, he is the musician from Aiden and William Control . And my name is Greek for “life”. Since
discovering this as a child, I became fascinated with mythology and legends. I’ve traveled to various islands on holiday, taking in all the historic
aspects. This fascination led me to write my first full novel based upon the
Greek nymphs that I submitted for university.
- Is that what determined you to be a writer?
- I decided to
become a professional writer when I started a relationship, with my partner. We
watched a lot of anime, namely Bleach, which focused on shinigami’s (Death
God’s in Japan). I started thinking about the non-canon characters and putting
them into ridiculous situations and having love affairs. He spurned my desire
to write – to give them as gifts to him. His
passion and drive, along with mine led me to apply for a BA (Hons) Degree in
Professional Writing, where I learnt how to harness my own imagination.
- And what persuaded you to approach fantasy?
- I can’t write an ordinary love story or
crime, without throwing a fantastical being into it! I’ve
always been fascinated by the strange and the extraordinary ever since I was a
child.
- What is Best Served Chilled about?
- An adult horror/fantasy novella, it follows
Tokyo born, Hiraku Michiyo, and the pain that remains with her from her past.
When she meets a deadly Japanese alcohol demon, her life is turned upside down,
and she finds out that the real horror is about to begin. I’ve started the sequel Best Served Within. And I have plans for
the third book. Ultimately, I knew after finishing it, that I wanted it to be a
trilogy.
