I’m not a big fan of germs. Yes, they are everywhere. Still, not
a big fan. I love having a travel-size hand sanitiser with me when I’m out and
about to make sure that my hands and my children’s hands are fresh and clean
wherever we go.
1. It kills germs, bacteria and viruses.
When soap and water are not available, hand sanitiser is the
best way to kill germs, bacteria and viruses. According to the CDC website,
an effective hand sanitiser has between 60% and 95% alcohol content. When used
properly, an effective hand sanitiser, such as this hand sanitiser
gel by Ocean Free, will kill 99.999% of bacteria, germs and
some viruses.
Of course, it’s also important to use hand sanitiser properly. The Food and Drug Administration recommends
rubbing hand sanitiser all over your hands, making sure to get between your
fingers and on the back of your hands until it’s dry.
Something to note is that it’s also highly important to promote
safe use of hand sanitiser by children as it can be poisoning when ingested.
For this reason, supervise young children when they use sanitising gel and
store your hand sanitising bottles far from reach.
2. Reduces infection and spreading.
By killing any viruses, germs and bacteria that might be on your
hands, the regular use of hand sanitiser will reduce your chances of being
getting sick and will also reduce the spread of said viruses, germs and
bacteria.
3. Is better than soap and water (in
certain situations).
According to this article on Harvard Health,
the use of hand sanitiser by toddlers may be associated with lower rates of
respiratory infections than handwashing with soap and water alone. The frequent
use of hand sanitiser showed to lead to fewer respiratory infections, less
antibiotic use and fewer sick days for children.
4. Lightweight and convenient.
Hand sanitiser is the on-the-go solution to keeping your hands
germ-free. Small bottles of hand sanitiser don’t take up any space and they can
fit mostly anywhere – purses, bags, pockets, you name it. Take a small bottle
with you wherever you go to keep your hands clean as a whistle.
5. There are plenty of options available.
Soothing hand sanitiser, refreshing hand sanitiser, hydrating
hand sanitiser.. there are many hand sanitisers available online for you to
choose from, so get browsing and stay safe!
