Handwriting
While they may be able to get away with their messy writing, handwriting actually has an impact on grades. It of course makes life easier for their teachers when marking but also helps them when going back over their notes and processing what they are writing about.
A Way to Store Memories
The second great thing about journaling is that it gives children something to look back on when they’re older. They will have personal journal entries from when they were a child and can relive their memories.
Mental Health
Writing is also an avenue for dealing with difficult feelings and emotions. It’s a healthy coping mechanism and one which can give children perspective as they can think about the situation that they’re in carefully and rationally.
Better Grades
Their overall writing will improve as they journal which will help them to secure better grades at school. All subjects require good writing skills, whether that’s maths to provide explanations or history for essays.
Organisation
Lastly, to expand on the point made earlier, journals can help children stay organised. It gives them a way to keep track of what they need to do vs what they have already done.
