On Sunday I celebrated my 30th birthday - the big 3-0. It's weird, I vividly remember as a young girl standing in my room thinking how grown up I'd feel when I turned 18... 18! Little did I know. I still wouldn't feel like a 'proper' grown up at 30. That little girl in me wondered where I'd be at 18, what I'd be doing, so it feels strange now to be way past the age of 18 and now in my 30's.
30 feels like a big number, a significant number. I often don't feel like a 'proper grown up', but does anyone? My adult years have taught me that we're all just winging it... our parents and their parents above them and all of the generations before. Age really is just a number, but I'm excited about my thirties. My twenties were about new experiences and becoming independent, learning how to be an adult, a Mum, a wife and finding out more about myself. And I would like to think that my thirties will be about becoming a bit wiser, taking the experiences and knowledge I have from my twenties and growing on it. I'll watch my boys grow up even more and I'm excited to experience each stage of that with them. I am excited to create more memories as a family. I'm excited to grow on myself a bit more and continue to challenge myself and the anxieties that sometimes stand in my way. It's fair to say that I've hit my 30's feeling incredibly content and extremely fortunate and this is something I really don't take for granted.
I had an amazing birthday this year, spent with amazing people. And I even managed to stretch it over the course of three days. On Friday Adam and I went for a spa day at Champneys in Tring with a Buyagift voucher which included the spa day itself with access to all of the spa and leisure facilities and also a 3 course buffet-style lunch for us both. If you live anywhere near Tring and are ever looking to treat yourself or someone else to a spa day I can't recommend Champneys in Tring enough. I've been twice now, once before with my Mum and then just recently for my birthday and it is such an incredible spa set in a former Rothschild mansion. I'd also advise going through Buyagift as you can always get a good price for it.
Below are some of the photos I snapped on my phone from our day at the spa. I look back on these with a really big smile on my face - it was such a treat and we felt so relaxed the entire day.
The next day (Saturday) was spent chilling at home mostly with the boys and then in the evening we went for a lovely meal at an Indian in town called Maaya. They do the best mock-tails - they were that good that I didn't even have any alcohol!
I wore my new-ish pink H&M dress and some black boots.
Celebrating with family. <3
On Sunday (my actual birthday) we decided to head over to a local woodland country park that we'd actually not been to before called Rushmere Country Park so that the boys could have a big run around. We met Adam's parents and sister there and I honestly can't believe we'd never been there before. It's so beautiful and tranquil with huge trees surrounding you. There's a lovely cafe with fantastic options for vegetarians and the whole family, that looks out over the valley and there's also a huge children's slide right next to the cafe that our boys loved!
Thank you to everyone of you who wished me a happy birthday across my social channels and a huge thank you to my amazing family who gave me the best 30th birthday. <3
