The Birthday Gods!

Posted on the 13 July 2012 by Mikidemann @mikidemann

I am pretty sure that I have had the most incredible birthday week more incredible than anyone that I’ve ever had. I LOVED all the birthday wishes via blog comments, Facebook, twitter and instagram. It really makes you feel so loved to be getting well wishes all day long! I think that might have had something to do with my non-stop birthday countdown since last week. I really got myself all pumped up for my birthday. Anica, one of the greatest blog friends of all time, sent me the CUTEST and sweetest birthday package. Which was the first present that I opened this year, and it made me incredibly excited for the next morning.

Wednesday night, Jared literally tucked me in around 11pm, and told me I had to go to sleep so he could prepare. I had no idea what he was going to do, and I stayed up most of the night listening and trying to figure out what all the noises meant. I sent him a text at 3:30 to tell him I was so excited I couldn’t sleep, and he replied with “do you need a glass of water?” ha! No! I need nyquil or something to knock me out! Anyway my alarm usually goes off at 7, and I woke up at 6 after sleeping for maybe an hour and was too excited to wait any longer. I opened our door and the whole house was decorated with balloons and ribbons, PLUS he had cleaned every inch of it. I just love my husband man. I love having a clean house, so I was already beaming from excitement.

Next I finally understood what all the weird noises were last night, Jared was putting together my wine rack! When I see wine rack’s in a house the first thought that comes to mind is classy, so I have had this irrational want for one for a long time. I think it bring such a scent of rich mahogany to our home! Isn’t it cute?

Then there was one more gift sitting on the table, but I was instructed to wait until after work to open it. I like that Jared knew I would wake up and see the other present first, so he had to specify to WAIT so he could see me open one of my present. I thought all day about what it could be and even enlisted the help of my instagram followers, their guesses were as good as mine. I had no idea. Saxon’s got cut off, he guessed lingerie.

While I was pondering what my present could be, my work decided we should do a Birthday Lunch. We went out to applebee’s and my boss required that the 4 waitress’ that were on staff sing to me. They did, and they brought me some free delicious ice cream. Free ice cream is always delicious. The whole day at work went by extremely fast, most likely because we took a 2 hour lunch break. ;)

When I got home, I was so excited for Jared to get home. I just paced back and forth thinking about my present. He finally got home and ran to him and smooched him on his lips, then ran back to my present and asked if I could open it yet, and you know what he got me!?!? That’s right the Victoria’s Secret swim suit I had been drooling over for the past few weeks! I totally scored this birthday year!

As if we hadn’t celebrated enough yet.. we had planned a big delicious dinner at Asian Star at 7pm. So my little brother wanted to hitch a ride with us, and came over at about 6 30, and he told me to go in my room and shut my eyes. I was so excited ANOTHER PRESENT!! Yeah, that’s right I have a really cool family. This present was way better than I was expecting (keep in mind one year Christiaan got me a BB gun).. I finally am allowed to come out and see what my mysterious present was. It was the most gorgeous vintage desk I have ever seen. He found it online in the classifieds. A lady was going through a divorce, and claimed she had paid a few thousand for it a long time ago. It is this to die for vintage belgium desk that is over 150 years old. Isn’t it amazing? It will be the perfect little blog work station :) I can’t wait to get home and rearrange furniture.

My brother, Brennon, also wrote me the funniest card. I wish I had taken a photo, because he drew his kitties on it and it was hilarious. He’s always been a creative gift giver. He gave me $40 gas money for my 16th birthday and wrote me a card that stayed in my first car for the entire time I had it. This year he did not disappoint! He got me THREE huge life long lasting jaw breakers. I won’t ever run out of Candy. He also got Shia a frisbee, and she loves it more than she loves to go on walks :)

We met up with a group of about 15 for dinner at Asian Star. I LOVED having everyone there to celebrate. It’s just such a great excuse to get everyone together in one spot. The whole dinner was filled with fun conversations, lots of laughing, and of course birthday wishes. It was the best birthday get together that I’ve ever had. I was so incredibly floored that everyone took time out of there night to come and celebrate with me. I really need to get better at doing group photos. I am always to embarrassed to ask strangers to do it. Anyway, my good friend Phil, took this and posted it on Instagram. It’s the only photo I have from the night.

Kind of irrelevant, but I also found this cat on my walk from the car into our home. I’m pretty sure it’s a wild cat that just lives in our neighborhood, because it’s fat and eats well but it’s the dirtiest cat alive. Anyway, Jared and I sat on the sidewalk and played with the cat for about 15 minutes and it was the perfect end to a fabulous birthday night.

I really lucked out this year, I must have done something right to please the birthday gods. I was so lucky to get the main things I really wanted off my wish list!!

Thank you for everything my blog friends!

I am officially 22 now.

CHEERS!
