'The Day That' Review

I really am such a sentimental type of person. I'm the person who always tries to look for a meaning in things. I was contacted recently by a company called 'The Day That' who told that they brave the elements each morning to capture the dawn every single day and have been doing so ever since June 21st 2005...nearly 10 years!
I took a close look at their website and read up all about who they were and found out that their company was founded by a man called Gavan Goulder, with an idea that was inspired by the birth of a son to one of his close friends. To commemorate the event, Gavan took a beautiful photograph of that day and presented it to the proud parents in a frame inscribed with ‘6th April 2000, Teddy's First Day'. Word soon spread and several people asked Gavan to create unique gifts for them too and it was this that was the start of the business specialising in extraordinary original photography.Initially known as 'My First Day' and focusing on unique gifts around the birth of a child, the scope of their business has now expanded to include sunrise photography to celebrate any special day in the most personalised of ways. Their photos are taken from various points around the dramatic coastlines of South West England, with most being taken in West Cornwall.Being as sentimental as I am, I was instantly attracted to the whole idea and they very kindly offered to send me a framed photograph from Ethan's 'first day' for me to provide them with my own honest feedback. The extremely well packaged frame arrived within a few days of me accepting their lovely offer and when it did - I couldn't wait to open it! As you can tell from from my photos of the frame above and below, the photograph is completely stunning. And though the real attraction to it is that it's a beautiful photograph taken the same very day that I became a Mother, which is so incredibly special, it would also be a truly beautiful picture by itself. It's one of those pictures that is able to somehow make me feel calmer and more peaceful when I look at it and that is a credit to whoever the amazingly talented photographer was who took it that day.

I think that the idea and products that The Day That are offering really do make for such a unique and special gift. One that would be perfect for a birth or christening and also as a uniquely romantic wedding presentThe location that the photographs are taken at may not have any connection or relevance to the customer or the receiver, but I personally feel that it's not about where the photo was taken, it's about how it signifies a new, special day and in our case a new baby being born that day.

You can find out more about The Day That and their unique product via their website or over on their Facebook or Twitter pages.
