For me there are only 2 options.
Option 1, when Jared is home and the doorbell rings. I will run as fast as I can to find Jared. I can make it through our entire house in 30 seconds. When I find Jared I usually casually say something like, "I think the doorbell just rang, will you go grab it?" I'll usually prepare myself with something like a rag or a pile of laundry to make it seem like I was in the middle of something very important. Then I proceed to follow Jared to the door. I stop about 10 feet behind him to see if I have any interest in the person on the other side.
Option 2, when Jared is not home and the doorbell rings, I run into a ninja. Usually the dogs are barking and creating havoc so I use my doggy telepathy (treats) and make them follow me into the master bedroom. Once we safely arrive inside the bedroom. I shove my back against the door and lock it. Then I do the next most rational thing. I hurry to the master bath and turn on the shower, because I know if a burglar or an attacker wanted to break in, they'd stop the second the heard the shower and come back at a more convenient time. After about a minute or two I forget that I am in full ninja mode, hiding from a dangerous psychopath, so I turn on the TV and kick my feet up.
