I’m making a new promise to myself…
As of today, I’m giving my camera a permanent home on the coffee table where it belongs—present, within arm’s reach, and ready to capture the everyday moments that make life sweet.
I want to remember the way Everett smiles at me in the morning on his changing table, as he stretches his arms overhead and says “goo” over and over. I want to remember the sleepy sighs and the big yawns and the way his eyebrows furrow when he’s not sure of something. I want to remember the way Brett and I high-five when we finally get him to sleep after an hour of crying. I want to remember our first vegetable garden and how crisp the carrots taste. I want to remember looking at flowers on my kitchen counter and feeling grateful for this beautiful, demanding, life-giving and life-changing season.
I want to remember it all. I’m vowing to fill up my photo albums with more boring days than special days, because that’s when life is the most unexpectedly sweet.
“A good snapshot keeps a moment from running away.”
