The magical first snow of the season has finally begun. White streaks are falling from the gray night sky, glistening in the glow of the street lights. The hazy, dream-like air. Christmas decorations look better with a backdrop of snow.
It’s been about 280 days since it snowed last. A new record. A record that dates back to the 1880s.
I doubt we are going to get buried in the stuff or even have enough to shovel in the morning. Maybe we will. You never know with snow. I can remember having snow up to the top of our privacy fence and walking right over the top like it was nothing. And sledding. And snow fights. Burrowing out igloos / forts in huge drifts. Kinda warm and cozy deep inside those homemade snow caves. And magical. Just like the timid flakes tonight.
Gonna pour a rum and coke in a bit and enjoy the winter weather. And memories.
I might write later, but SNL is new tonight, so that may not happen. I am excited about my WIP, my third novel, “The Carousel in the Sky”. It’s dark fantasy, as apposed to my normal straight out horror works. I am about 35k into it. This one has been a lot of fun to write.
At any rate: Let it snow!
How much snow have you had this year?
