Her sea green raincoat
almost unrecognizable
moist with the boisterous rain
laden some droplets sitting on the top of it
I had been watching her silently
from a distance
unaware, she was
an unruly car passed by
I watched her retracing her steps
towards the sidewalks
the car came close,
to the sidewalks
she bent her head
out at an angle,
as if to enquire the occupants of the car,
miscreants, I thought
now she was a few feet away,
I stood with my back,
to the wall, at the end of sidewalk,
Something hit her,
i saw her eyes
hazel green, fishlike
lined with kohl,
being washed away
from the water dripping,
from her head,
finding its way down to her toe,
she twitched,
came close to running,
too close to hitting the wall,
and losing consciousness,
I shifted my position
she walked into an unwanted embrace
she raised her head
for a moment, I thought
if another world exists
in the depths of her eyes
she said something,
incoherent, to me
I was lost,
in her beauty
but it did not last long
the car was gone
and so was she
within a minute,
I had everything in life,
just at once
and the moment next,
nothing at all
my eyes watery
with the hopeless longing
or the love intensified
I can hardly reckon,
With time
I forgot her face,
But I still remember,
her green raincoat
That girl in green raincoat..
