The Island Experience at Verde Islands

Posted on the 10 April 2012 by Khristinacarla @khristinacarla

We rode a small motor boat from Batangas Philippines around 5am and got to the island at 6:30 am.

From a far the island looks like a whale

and when we reached the island this is what I saw…

Clear water (that’s already 4 feet deep but you can still see whats underneath).

White sand (at “makatol” or “mahabang buhangin”)

What I liked about this place is that it’s not that crowded. Approximately there are not more than 300 individuals / locals who live here and locals here knew everyone in this island.

Also there were no pollution. Why? because there’s no establishments (ex. resto, mall or hotels), no tricycles not even electricity! Can you just imagine how simple their life is? :D

The locals get their water from a community pump. Food from plants and pets (pig, chicken and fish). Wait they do have electricity but only from 6pm to 9pm because of the generator.

It was such a great relief to be here. I had my time away from the computer and the extreme pollution at Manila.
