Ladies! Tired of the same ol' designer and silk saris? Well, Silk Cotton is here to save your day!
Silk Cotton sarees as the name suggests, is made of silk and cotton threads, which are interwoven to give the rich look of silk but the light feel of cotton.
Silk Cotton sarees look as rich as Silk sarees and can be easily mistaken for silk. I've picked 4 sarees from my mom's collection which are very versatile and can be worn for any occasion.
The first one is a bright pink saree with an olive green border. This sarees has a border woven out of golden silk thread. This is ideal for a wedding.
This is a typical chequer pattern (most common pattern on silk saree in the South). This is most commonly worn by older women but I love wearing this too! There were so many times when people have mistaken this for a silk saree! And of course, I would gloat!!
This particular orange-pink saree has floral patterns on the body of the saree. This is also ideal for a family function and weddings and has the same luster as silk. You can see how the pink cotton threads are interwoven with the orange silk ones.
Finally, my favorite saree of the lot. This particular saree is for those of you who hate the shine of a silk saree but want a better version of a cotton saree to wear to parties and functions. This particular saree definitely has the sheen but a subtle one and the motifs remind you of a cotton saree.
The price range of silk cotton sarees range from 1500 INR to 4000 INR depending on the work on the saree and the amount of silk used. I find that this is very reasonable considering it combines the goodness of two different types of sarees and brings together the best of both. I would also advise you to give it for dry cleaning for the first wash.
Hope this helps! Happy Shopping! :)
