After seeing some fantastic laundry spaces on various websites and daily on pinterest I decided it was time that I finally did something with my laundry. The only thing I have done to it since we moved in here six years ago is to add a clothes dryer, a dirty clothes hamper, a cupboard and filing cabinet to store things in.
The other thing driving me was my need for more storage space. I was sick of having nowhere to put things, feeling like things were everywhere and there was no method to the madness.
So I bought four lovely white floating shelves from Kmart. Two large and two smaller ones.
I bought some storage baskets from Bunnings and Kmart.
I made some labels for the baskets using Microsoft Word. Printed them out and then cut some cardboard up in squares the same size as the labels. Using double sided tape I stuck the labels onto the cardboard backing.
Using thicker double sided tape I stuck the labels to the front of the baskets.
Next was to get the shelves up. I called upon my dad’s expertise to help me with this one.

And the shelves are up, baskets in place and some of them filled.
Next to go was the awful red rope that is our indoors clothesline. I use this line every single day as it is just too far to go downstairs to use our unit blocks communal clothes lines outside. Also it’s impossible with the twins. So I bought some white rope from Bunnings which blends in a lot better with everything else.

Two other great buys both from Bunnings are the broom holders. The broom and the mop used to live beside the cupboard and were always in the way.
So now I have some handy spaces to store things. Some of the items in the baskets are things I can now stock up on when they are on sale and store up out of the way, (including toilet paper, tissues, baby wipes, paper towel and batteries). I also think the shelves and baskets look quiet nice in the laundry and they utilise the space above the washing machine and sink that was being wasted.
All in all, I am very happy with the laundry so far. Next I will tackle the other side of the room and sort out the cupboard and filing cabinet.
