The Me and Mine Family Portrait Project - August 2016

Posted on the 31 August 2016 by Alex_bumptobaby @bumptobaby_blog

August has been lovely, it's been a month of many sunny days and warm evenings, which means it's been a month of being able to spend more days off together outside. I think family days out to new places that we haven't yet explored is becoming one of my favorite things to do - I seriously love it. Getting to hang out with my favorite people, outside next to nature, discovering and exploring - it always leaves me feeling so inspired.
We've had a trip to Castle Ashby Gardens in Northamptonshire, a day out in the sunshine at Stowe in Buckingham, a day at an airshow - which was amazing because Ethan is totally plane obsessed and it was so nice to see him in his element surrounded by his favorite things. We've had my sisters wedding, mine and Adam's own 4th wedding anniversary and a day at the lake with my parents. We've also eaten out a lot as a family, which we also love doing. And of course, we can't forget about Ethan's trip to the hospital in the back of an ambulance after he hurt his neck jumping around on our bed, which wasn't at all an exciting day out (for me at least) but should definitely get a mention for our look back through August.
It's my birthday on the 9th September, I'll be 28, which I'm OK with as I'm still 2 years away from being in my 30's (I'm so not ready to be in my 30's - I'm not grown up enough!). It's funny because I've always usually started to get excited about my birthday towards the end of August, but I've not really given it any thought. Maybe because I'm more excited about the boy's birthdays these days or maybe because I'm just quite content and happy in general that a birthday doesn't need to have that same excitement as perhaps it used to.
August has been lovely - I'm feeling happy, really happy. I'm not one of those people that walks around with a smile permanently attached to my face, though I'd love to be. I've struggled with my hormones lately and my emotions are bouncing all over the shop because of it. But minus the crazy hormones, I'm happy and I'm thankful. Life with two littles is never smooth, it's intense, hard work and drives me slightly bonkers (okay that's just me) but I really wouldn't change it for anything else in the world. I really do love my little family so much.
