I'm late with this! This post was supposed to be written and up last Sunday, but I'm late. Life's often manic and with little six month old Logan who's been teething and has been very uncomfortable with it, it's not been totally easy lately. But, whilst I'm late, I am still wanting to join in with Katie's 'The Ordinary Moments' blog link-up this year (as much as I possibly can) as I am a great believer in that it's the ordinary moments that tend to be the very best.
And so for my first The Ordinary Moments post of 2016, it has to be all about my little boy and his brand new scooter.
This post is going to be gushy (hey, when are my posts not?!) but that immense, overwhelming pride that overcomes a parent when they see their children do something for the very first time, is not something that you truly understand or fully appreciate until you become a parent yourself.
My little, but eldest, baby was given a scooter by his Grandparents for Christmas and so we went out and brought him a navy coloured helmet, that looks totally massive, yet totally ridiculously cute on him. The helmet on his head was enough to make me cry (as emotional as a Mummy that I am), but then it's the 'can-do', 'I've got this' attitude from my two year old baby that makes me go ridiculously gooey inside. It's his determined little face and the fact he picks it all up so quickly. It's the way he glides on past me on his little scooter, kicking his leg up in the air behind him as he goes - with a face full of pride of course. It's the sweet smile he gives us that says 'Look! I'm doing it!'.
It's all these things that make me a tiny bit of an emotional mess as I realize that my first born baby is growing up and whilst that scares me a little, it also makes me incredibly proud and so happy for him and us a family. I'm probably always going to be 'that' Mum.. the one that cries (through happy tears) at absolutely everything her children do. Because for me, it's all about the little things - the things that may look totally ordinary to everyone else, but really, are totally extraordinary lovely to me.
