The Ordinary Moments #3 - January Snow
Posted on the 17 January 2016 by Alex_bumptobaby @bumptobaby_blogToday, on our day off, we woke up and opened our blinds to find a blanket of snow had covered everything outside. I'm not the hugest fan of snow, I mostly find it a little irritating - it's cold and it makes driving anywhere a bit of a challenge. But on days like to day when I have no where that I need to be and I can admire it from wherever I like, I like the snow.
I like how it makes everything look so pretty and so clean (well, until it starts to clear and leaves behind that dirty slushy stuff!). I like that Ethan thinks it's super exciting and I like that it means that as a family we wrap up warm and head outside for a little while to enjoy throwing snowballs at each other and making footprints.
I like how everywhere you look, everything looks like an image from a Christmas card, especially the trees all sprinkled in snow. There's no denying that the snow really is beautiful.
It was lovely to have nowhere to be today - no racing against the clock. We spent around 45 minutes playing in the snow in the park and afterwards we headed over to town to get some lunch. We're really loving having a day of our own, a day where we can just do things at our own pace (well, the boys pace really! ;) - but still, it's ours as a family). We had a couple of things we wanted to do in town, I needed to take my vlogging camera back to to be repaired as it's stopped working sadly and then I treated myself to two new pairs of shoes, which are unusually much higher than I would normally buy or wear as I tower over my Husband in heels. And then I also brought a new jacket, but I think I'm going to return it as I don't really like the fit. It's always nice being able to treat yourself to something new when you have gifts cards to spend after Christmas!
Today's been a lovely, relaxed and totally chilled day (well, as chilled as a day can be with two young children!) and tonight my brother is coming over to us to babysit the boys whilst we go to an Adult pantomime for my father-in-laws birthday (I'm SO not sure what to expect from it!? Haha!). It will be nice to have a little break, but I am nervous. Logan's at an age where leaving him feels really difficult, especially because he's teething. I always say it feels like at his age there's a bit of an invisible umbilical cord attachment going on! But I know that it's good to get a break every now and again and I know it will be nice for Adam and I to have some time together. I love and I am so thankful for days like today (especially when they follow a horrid day full of teething, teething and more teething like yesterday!).
