The Ordinary Moments: Extra Family Time
Posted on the 23 August 2015 by Alex_bumptobaby @bumptobaby_blogI much prefer to be kept busy, rather than to find myself sitting about bored. But sometimes, especially now that we're parents to two under three, I do find myself wishing I'd be able to find a little time to relax from time to time. We try to have one family day a week and though we still have to do some work, we usually do get to have it. This week, on Wednesday, Adam and I celebrated three years of marriage. We went out together for a lovely meal, where we talked and talked and laughed so hard that our sides nearly split (though the wine may have played a little part in that). We'd actually forgotten about it, but Adam also booked Saturday off of work, so that we could have an extra family day this week as part of our anniversary celebrations.
On seeing how lovely the weather was going to be (32 degrees!), we decided to head over to a beautiful lake not far from us called Willen Lake. We packed up a picnic and everything we would need for the day and headed out of the door.
The weather was absolutely gorgeous, boiling hot, but still, so gorgeous. We really don't get that much hot weather here in the UK, so it was really nice to have a whole day off as a family to enjoy it. We all had such a wonderful day, though my poor little Ethan did have an accident which involved him tripping over on a gravel path, resulting in some blood and one side of his face getting pretty badly scratched up. It's looks awful, but he was very brave and an ice cream helped him forget all about it! I really love the moments when it's just us, with no work interruptions or usual routine, sometimes it's just nice to 'be' and it's even nicer to just 'be' when we're all together.
