I knew May was going to be a less-than-smooth month, but I was unprepared for some of its less than light-hearted moments.
Among all of it, though, was the #20X31 Challenge, co-hosted by my dear friend Jen at JVKom.com Chronicles. I wasn't the picture of perfection, but the challenge did cause some major shifts in my conscious behavior toward both fitness and food.
Last night, for example, I was frustrated and upset and at the end of my seemingly perpetual rope. My normal response to such a feeling is to go get some ice cream (or some other sweet goodie) quickly and get a sugar rush and somehow convince myself this was how to feel better.
Instead, I took my doggies and went for a walk.
I walked for thirty minutes, more than ten higher than the suggested #20X31 dose. ** see my goofy smile **
Also during this last week, I stopped eating as well as I had been for the entire month. It was a rather extraordinarily stressful and emotionally charged week. More good news, though - last night and today I was back into better choices.
I had yogurt with flaxseed meal as a snack last night while watching my guilty pleasure "The Bachelorette" and this morning it was oatmeal with flaxseed meal again. I didn't even have coffee.
I'm not a saint, I just caught my coffee maker on fire yesterday. Like I said, it was not a very pleasant week.
This week my biggest big goal is to go to the gym and take a class. Just one class, I tell myself. I think Aqua Circuit or a Zumba or a Yoga. I have plenty of choices, right?
I want to keep up my twenty minutes (at least) daily. I want to be able, at the end of August, to take a photo of myself looking at least a little bit different than my beginning of May photo.
Lots of kudos also to her fantastic team of co-hosts: Carly at Optimistic Health, Samantha at 24to30, and Anna at Running Smiles.
