Happy Friday, followers! I hope it has been a fantabulous week for you and you are looking forward to a fantabulous weekend as well.
My life is all things pageant right now and I will essentially be living at the church for the weekend, but that's okay. It gives me a decent amount of time to finally catch up on all the design work that I've been pining to do whilst in the office.
But anyway. That's not why we're here today. We are here today because for the past five-ish months you all have been reading this Saga. This crazy, ridiculous Saga that started off as a bunch of anecdotes about the rather bizarre conversations I had with the cute guy in my office and somehow evolved into a relationship. And now, it's his turn. You've all gotten my side of the story for almost five months now, and now you get to hear his side.
Over the next couple of weeks, I shall be reposting some of the pivotal moments in the Saga, with Office Boy's comments and take inserted. You can think of it sort of like a Director's Cut edition of a movie. Or a movie with commentary. Yea. That fits better. At the end of it all, we will do a Q&A post where you guys get to ask us all the burning questions you've had since the Saga began. They can be questions for me, for him, or for the two of us as a couple.
And so today, we start at the beginning, which is, of course, a very good place to start.
----------
There's this guy who works in my office. For future reference he will be known as Office Boy. I'm about 99% positive that over the last two days he's been trying to come up with excuses to talk to me. Thus far, they've resulted in some hilarious conversations. And thus begins, The Saga of Office Boy.
I suppose of all the things that I could be known as for the rest of my online lifetime with Sarah, Office Boy isn't the worst. It implies that 1) I have a job, 2) It's in an Office and 3) I'm male -- all true things.
------I walked out of the restroom, lamenting the return to my ice cube of an office cubicle where I would spend the rest of the work day staring blankly at a computer screen while an automated voice talked to me about information security. As I neared the door, Office Boy walked out. He didn't hold the door open like a gentlemen. No, he purposely shut it and leaned up against it.
This sounds worse than it actually was. I was smiling the whole time...wait...that sounds creepy.
"How're things going?""Alright. My task manager isn't in today, so I don't have a whole lot to do.""Ahh. So it's like a fun, free day?"
"Not really. I have to do all this training, so I get to spend the next several hours staring at a computer screen while an automated voice talks to me about information security.""Oh, well now I just feel bad for you. I was just gonna keep you locked out.""Now why would you do that? What did I do to you?""Nothing. It's just entertaining."
I'm not going to try to invent a reason for this whole thing. I just do things -- no real reason behind it. I liked picking on Sarah for some reason. Only later did I find out it was because I liked her.
Fun fact: Boy brains like to keep things to themselves before they tell the rest of them (ie. the rest of the boy) what's going on.
Office Boy now, being the gentlemen, opened the office door for me and I returned to my cubicle, shaking my head and chuckling to myself.
Yes, I did eventually let her back in the office, which wasn't a favor -- it can be bleak in there. (True statement!)
------I sat at my cubicle, listening to the droll voice of the internet training program go on about information security procedures, trying desperately not to fall asleep. Suddenly, Office Boy walks into my cubicle, sets a three-hole punch and my desk and leaves, without a word.
See my comment above -- I'm not sure exactly why I did this. Whether I wanted to see Sarah, or just be confusing, who knows?
I looked at it, puzzled, then picked it up and followed him.
"Office Boy, what is this?""A three-hole punch.""Well, I can see that. Why did you give it to me?""I don't know. I thought you might want it.""You do realize that I have a ton of office supplies on my desk, right?""No."
Not quite the reaction I was expecting. I have no reason behind things at the time I do them, but for some reason I did not expect this to be a reaction to my initial activities.
We walked back into the cubicle.
"In fact, I have this exact same three-hole punch already and an additional hole punch. Why would I need another one?" I thought I was being charming..."I don't know. That other one isn't even a three-hole punch. Maybe you need to hole punch two documents at one time. Or...you wanted to...start and assembly line or...something.""I think I'm good.""Alright." He turned to leave. "Wait...I didn't know you were married." Honestly, I figured she wasn't married. I wanted confirmation.I looked down at my hand. "I'm not.""You're not?""No. I'm not married.""But...then...I mean..." Office Boy suddenly got very flustered and walked away without another word. All part of my cunning deception -- the ones I plan anyway...
My friend Tori is predicting he'll ask me out within three weeks. My sister repeatedly said, "There's nothing wrong with coffee" and told me to look up the company fraternization policy. I told them they're both making assumptions.
I hadn't planned on asking her out -- the brain wasn't letting me in on the big picture just yet. However, I do know that if I don't find someone attractive, I don't visit them.

But in any event...stay tuned for more developments in The Saga of Office Boy. Oh, how I laugh when I read this...----------Check back Tuesday for next installment in The Saga of Office Boy (as explained by Office Boy)!Like what you're reading?
