The clock slowly ticked by but eventually, much to my delight, it hit 4:30pm. I packed my bags, hit the gym, and then headed on home. It was sure to be a fantastic night and I couldn't have been more excited to start the weekend.
After arriving home and showering the scent of gym off myself, I poured through my closet. I had decided on the theoretical perfect outfit earlier that day but upon donning it, was not quite pleased with the final look. In the end, I decided upon a delightful blue sundress I had recently purchased and had yet to wear in public.
A short while later, I headed on out the door and over to Office Boy's apartment to spend the evening celebrating our one monthaversary.
I arrived at his apartment complex, headed up the stairs, and knocked on the door.
"Wow," he said as he opened the door. "You look absolutely gorgeous.""Thank you," I said and smiled.
We walked in and I set my bag down.
"I have something for you," I said, smiling."Really? What is it?"
Out of my purse I pulled a card and a bag of Atomic Fireballs -- his favorite candy (why he loves the disgusting things, I can never guess, but he does). His eyes lit up.
"Thank you," he said. Then his face fell. "But I didn't get you anything.""That's alright," I said. "You really didn't need to."
"You can have Simon if you want."
"That's alright. I really don't need anything." He smiled and kissed me.
A few minutes later, we headed out the door and walked down the street.
"I would've said we should just order food and stay in, but you look so gorgeous, I want everyone to see you now," he said as we walked down the street, fingers interlaced. I smiled.
The night was perfect. Warm for March, but a beautiful evening to be out walking. Not too warm, not too hot. The night sky lit up with stars. Little shops along the street aglow with light and the activity of employees and patrons alike.
"What would you do if someone from work saw us right now?" he asked."Honestly, I don't know.""'Office Boy? And Sarah?!' 'Umm...no...this is uhh...Tara, her twin sister.'""Identical, of course.""Well, duh. You'd have to look exactly alike.""Same height and everything.""That's right."
We walked into the restaurant, sat down, and ordered our drinks. After a bit, the waitress came back to take our order.
"I'm going to have the flank steak with a side of mashed potatoes. And she'd like the half...chicken...thing. And we'd like the chicken wings appetizer."
Our waitress walked away and I laughed.
"The half chicken thing?"
"I couldn't remember exactly what it was and I didn't want to stare right at the menu.""It's alright," I said.
"I know. This ain't my first rodeo," he said.
"Yes," I said, laughing. "I know." He reached across the table and grabbed my hand.
"And I hope we have lots more rodeos together," he said, then kissed my hand.
After a short time, our appetizer came -- some delicious wings dipped in some sort of honey sauce. Office Boy picked one up and immediately dropped it.
"Ow!" he exclaimed. "Wow. That's really hot."
"That hot?"
"Mmhmm. I wouldn't touch it just yet."
As the meal continued, Office Boy instructed me on proper wing eating etiquette. Apparently you are supposed to eat an easy wing (ie. the chicken leg) and then eat a hard wing (ie. the actual chicken wing) and continue to alternate between the two. Who knew there was a specific way to eat chicken wings?
We finished dinner, then walked a few doors down to Cold Stone Creamery to finish off the night with some ice cream. As we walked out of the store a short while later, I took a bite of my ice cream and walked down the street, a spring in my step, as I basked in the beautiful night.
"You've turned into a little kid," said Office Boy. "Is this what happens when you get ice cream? You turn into a little kid?"
"I suppose," I said, smiling and taking another spoonful of ice cream.
We made our way back to Office Boy's apartment where we spent the rest of the evening discussing random topics while snuggling on the couch. Time passed quickly and suddenly it was 10:40. I slipped into the restroom to change into appropriate attire for the midnight premiere of The Hunger Games and Office Boy prepared for bed.
"I had a wonderful time tonight," I said.
"Me too."
"I hope you have a great day at work tomorrow," I said as I leaned up and kissed him. "Good night."
"Good night, beautiful."
Today it has been one week since our one monthaversary (we celebrated two days late because our one monthaversary coincided with my little sister's 17th birthday) and it has been a wonderful one month and one week.
Also, get super excited and tell all your friends because on Friday, you will finally hear from the man himself! It has taken some convincing and batting of my "anime eyes" (that's what he calls them), but today Office Boy agreed to write for you all for Friday. Perhaps after you hear his perspective, we will do a Q&A post, so prepare all those questions you've been dying to know the answer to since the Saga began. :)
