The Trial Tribulations of Galliano

With the fashion icons court battle set for tomorrow afternoon, the press are all about what is going to happen to dear John.

After his anti-semetic and racist verbal assaults on various people between 2010/11, John is facing criminal charges for Public Ranting Based on Racist or Religious Discrimination - a crime which could cost him 6 months in prison &/or a huge fine.

His possible defences seem to be the main topic of discussion; but for me he has no defence. Many people have spoken out against the Dior designer but many have recently been standing to defend him too. The main issue seems to be the beliefe that something “made him” say it…that intense pressure and drug & alcohol addiction are to blame. But i dont see how alcohol can suddenly turn someone racist. All of the elements of his stressful life could easily cause him to conflict with others, and can cause harsh words to be said, but to say “I Love Hitler” is not something commonly connected with alcoholism….is it?

It is from my experience that Alcohol infact makes people say the things that they really mean, ofcourse we can all go too far when we drink too much, but how many of us will say that they love the Nazis after a few too many?

Anyway it all remains to be seen at tomorrows trial and you can be sure that I will keep you posted on this topic.
